Infection Control Annual Statement
- September 2024
Purpose
This annual statement will be generated each year in accordance with the requirements of The Health and Social Care Act 2008 Code of Practice on the prevention and control of infections and related guidance. It summarises:
- Any infection transmission incidents and any action taken (these will have been reported in accordance with our Significant event procedure)
- Details of any infection control audits undertaken and actions undertaken
- Details of any risk assessments undertaken for prevention and control of infection
- Details of staff training
- Any review and update of policies, procedures and guidelines
Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Lead
The Infection Prevention and Control Lead for Jubilee Medical Group is Clare Bartlett, Practice Nurse.
Jubilee Medical Group operate on two sites: Kent House surgery and New Ash Green surgery.
Infection Transmission Incidents (Significant events)
Significant events are investigated in detail to see what can be learnt and to indicate changes that might lead to future improvements. All significant events are reviewed and learning is cascaded to all relevant staff.
There have been no significant events related to infection control.
Infection Prevention Audit and Actions
Infection control audit of Kent House surgery was carried out on 18th April 2024.
Actions that were identified are in the process of being completed.
Hand hygiene audit was completed in January 2024.
Clinical waste audit was completed in September 2023 at New Ash Green and January 2024 at Kent House surgery.
Training
All non-clinical staff are required to complete annual IPC Level 1 and Clinical staff Level 2 training.
Those whose training was outstanding have been reminded.
Policies and Procedures
All policies relating to IPC have been reviewed.
Policies relating to Infection Prevention and Control are available to all staff on the Y: drive and are reviewed and updated annually. Additionally, all policies are amended on an on-going basis as current advice, guidance and legislation changes.
