How and when to obtain test results from the surgery

Specimen samples

If you have been asked by a clinician to drop in a specimen sample please make sure that the bottle given to you has a label on and is placed inside the plastic bags provided by the practice. All samples need to be dropped in before 12pm as this is when they get collected from the surgery for testing and they cannot be left over night or over the weekend.

Test Results

Please contact the surgery to check your results and to make an appointment to discuss them with your doctor if you are advised to do so.

Please access your results via the NHS app. If you do not have access to this please phone after 2pm. Your results are only accessible once the GP has read them.

Please note we do not make contact with you for normal results, if your result is normal and you are still experiencing problems please contact us online or telephone between 8am and 10:30am.

Most blood test results will be available after seven days, cervical smears after four weeks and X-ray results after three weeks.

Note that the practice has a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection and we will only release test results to the person to whom they relate unless that person has given prior permission for the release of this data or they are not capable of understanding the results.
